It is baffling how the devs could ♥♥♥♥ this up when all they had to do was make an average game and let the A-list cast of characters, voice actors, and sound design do the carrying. But they somehow managed to make the gameplay so unbearably awful that even those positive qualities fail to save it for a diehard LWA fan like me. Its sad because even if the devs were genuinely trying to make an enjoyable game in good faith, the exorbitant price tag and horrendus playing experience make it hard not to view this as an attempt to prey on the goodwill of a loyal fanbase desperate for any sort of franchise-related content. The game is just that bad.But as much as I want to tell everyone to stay the hell away from this game, I won't begrudge fans for getting this if they seriously love LWA that much. Just know that you are essentially paying $45 for the voice acting dialogue and a few extra clips of fully animated scenes done by Trigger.. If you're a fan of the show, you'll probably enjoy the humor present and the exclusive animated cutscenes created for the game. But the gameplay is sadly mediocre at best. Essentially a side-scrolling beat-em-up with little thought put into its dungeons or enemies and all story events and quests occur as timed events throughout the day, resulting in an awful lot of waiting around. I tried to give Chamber of Time a chance, but with so little in the way of substance and rewarding gameplay it just gets tedious before long; I can't recommend this one in good conscience. Stick to Dragon's Crown or pick up the D&D: Chronicles of Mystara collection instead if you want the same concept, but a much better execution. Or if you must get CoT, wait until it's at a very steep discount.. Unless you watch the Anime, don't get this. The combat is janky as all hell. Theres no combo system, which, if you ask me, being able to transition from a light attack to a heavy is kind of an important deal in a beat-em-upThe RPG system is nice though, being able to upgrade your spells and stats. But that means nothing if you're being knocked back by any tiny hit.. Despite me being a fan of the 2 short movies and especially the anime series for Little Witch Academia, this game was not as good as I was hoping it would be.While this game does a great job representing the world of the anime franchise with fun dialouge, a great opening theme tune, the japanese voice cast reprising their roles for this game (there's no english voice option in this game so sorry few people who prefer the english cast), nice cell shaded graphics and on top of that some original animation from Studio TRIGGER for certain cutscenes, the gameplay is where the game falls apart.When you're not running up, down and all around Luna Nova (the game's hub world) just to complete simple fetch quests, you're in clunky beat em up sections with only a few combat moves at your disposal, poor dungeon design and bosses that range from really easy to absolutely tidieous.That's not even the worst part of it due to all the repetition you'll be going through during the course of your adventure, either through replaying dungeons as different characters to progress through the story, having to keep going back and forth to different parts of Luna Nova while keeping track of the time or just straight up being forced to play all 7 stages again because of a late plot point I won't spoil for those curious.I wanted to like this game but unless if you're a huge fan of Little Witch Academia, I don't recommend buying this game and even if you are a huge fan of the franchise I suggest waiting for a price drop because it's not worth spending £35 for a game where only the writing and presentation are good while the gameplay is rather bad.I can see that A+ Games tried while making this game but this game is nothing more than a D-.. Having saved anime multiple times in a row, Trigger has moved onto their next challenge: saving video games
